apartment quest!

oh, hello. not much exciting has happened lately, minus the fact that i have secured myself an apartment for the fall. i will now tell the tale of my apartment quest and how this came to be.

the first apartment we visited was the closest one to campus, the iliad. what an adventure that was. i had phone correspsondence with the landlord and i learned that he was a pharmacist from iraq, so his name became dr. iraq. every time he called me on the phone, he adressed me as roger. anyways, i finally got an appointment so the the apartment. two bedroom, 640 a month plus electricity. well i go to the appointment and there in the office is a confused white guy with an iraqi accent, rather disappointing. so he shows us the place and the first thing i see is this HUGE living room. it seemed like a nice start until i learned that the living room was so huge because an accordion-like partition came out of the wall to divide it in half, forming the second bedroom. the actual bedroom was nothing special, various colors of paint, an iron burn on the floor and a 6 inch deep closet all added to the atmosphere. the place had two different kinds of carpet and in the "second bedroom" there was a hole burned into the floor. the kitchen was super gross and it smelled and there were cigarette coupons pinned to the wall. all these things in more will make it go down in nate history as the worst apartment in the world.

after this, depression sets in. i call a few promising places, but no real leads. one place, brickhaven, has a bunch of two bedrooms for immediate occupancy, but i need one for april. so time goes by and nothing happens. i decide to see if brickhaven has anything for the spring. the lady with the russian accent on the phone replies not technically, but they can hold one for me. this lady turned out to be aga (spelling??) aka hot russian lady, the lease consultant. we viewed the place and it is super nice. two bedroom, one and a half baths, a balcony as wide as the apartment, dishwasher, ac, etc.... super nice. needless to say, i put down a deposit so i will be living in style.

that's all i have to report other than the fact that the university is closed today so that is cool except for the fact that i woke up at the same time i would have if i had class today. i was actually looking forward to class as well, seeing as i didn't have to go to my production class, we were supposed to see a film in my native american lit class and then i have photography. i guess it's better than having class cancelled tomorrow, because i have a plan to set into action.
